Environment:

The term environment is derived from the French word “Environner” which means to the surroundings. Environment is difficult word to define. Normally environment means the surroundings and the conditions under which men live and work. In other way Environment refers to the sum of all conditions and influences that affect the life of all living beings Environment includes Land, water, air, human beings, plants, microorganisms, biosphere and lithosphere and all living creatures.

Environmental Pollutants:

A pollutant can be any chemical (toxic metal, radionuclides, organophosphorus compounds, gases) or geochemical substance (dust, sediment), biological organism or product, or physical substance (heat, radiation, sound wave) that is released intentionally or inadvertently by man into the environment with actual or potential adverse, harmful, unpleasant, or inconvenient effects. Pollutants can be naturally occurring substances or energies, but they are considered contaminants when in excess of natural levels. According to the study environmental pollutants are the materials in form of solid, liquid or gas that may or tend to be injurious to environment. The unnecessary substances present in the environment that leads uncomfortable to the health of the living beings is environmental pollutants.

Environmental Pollution:

Environmental pollution is defined as “the contamination of the physical and biological components of the earth/atmosphere system to such an extent that normal environmental processes are adversely affected. (Environmental Management, 2017) The presence of the pollutants in the environment is known as environmental pollution. In other way the composition of pollutants with nature is environment pollution. Pollutions are of various types ie. air pollution, sound pollution, water pollution and so on. The pollution is harmful to the living beings. Any use of natural resources at a rate higher than nature’s capacity to restore itself can result in pollution of air, water, and land. The decline in environmental quality as a consequence of pollution is evidenced by loss of vegetation, biological diversity, excessive amounts of harmful chemicals in the ambient atmosphere and in food grains, and growing risks of environmental accidents and threats to life support systems.

In order to achieve sustainable development environmental protection constitutes an integral part of development process and it cannot be considered in isolation. Peace, development and environment are interdependent and invisible. Today we are confronted with a perpetuation of disparities between and with in the nations, worsening of poverty, hunger, bad health and under education and continuing deterioration of the ecosystem on which we depend for our wellbeing.

The problem of environmental pollution is the prom of all the countries whether it is developed or under developed. Poverty and under development constitute and essential element of the problem of environment pollution. The poor people who do not have means to get one meal by a day, clothes to cover themselves and shelter to live in, cannot possibly think about the environmental protection. For such type of people any way by which they can survive is the best. Such people are not educated and hance have no enough awareness to know or understand the problem. Over production, nuclear radiations, over exploitation of natural resources, industrial wastes in different forms, industrial accidents and the living style of the people are some of the contributing factors for environmental problems in developed and developing countries.

Effects of Environmental Pollution:

Various Effects can be observed to the health of living beings due to Pollution in the environment. The pollution in the air causes lungs problems and eye disease. polluted air harms the kidney, causes abortion and deficiency in the blood. It helps in the increasement in the temperature of the earth which leads to global warming. Polluted water has and adverse effect on the health of the creature. Infectious dieses like diarrhea, cholera, dysentery and typhoid may spread by polluted water. The use of chemical fertilizer and insecticide causes adverse effect on the health of man, animal and plants. Soil Pollution destroys the land condition. Besides, it destroys the fertility capacity of the soil. Noise pollution causes the disease of blood pressure to the human beings. It can damage the ear’s net and the ear may not be able to hear. Noise pollution also affect the digestion and may cause loss of sleep.

Prevention of the Environmental Pollution:

Environmental Pollution is the global problem of the Present day.  It is taken as a serious threat to the existence and survival of the human race. Unpolluted air to breath, uncontaminated water to drink, nutritious food to eat and hygienic condition to live are most important essentials for the existence and survival of Human race. So environment should be prevented from being polluted and destroyed. It is our duty to preserve the environment for ourselves and for the future generations. Now we have a big challenge to handover the quality environment to our next generation.Man is considered to be the most intellectual gene among the creation of God. In his greed for socio-economic progress man has initiated exploitation of not only his co-human and other being, but also bounty of natural resources.

In order to preserve the environment human being should control the use of chemicals and fertilizers in the productive process and in Agricultural fields. Atomic tests should be minimized. Construction works leading to the emission of dust and other particles should be controlled.Loud sounds and resounds causing vibrations and noise pollution should be minimized. Deforestation for human dwelling and other purposes causing destruction for forest resources and wildlife should be in limit. Mining Operations, Mechanization and Transportation should be systematized. Well planned sewerage and drainage system should be applied.
